Amazon’s Sustainability Accelerator helps innovative green start-ups scale – is it one to watch for your brand?
If your ethos revolves around building a more eco-conscious future, then the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator might be something for your radar in 2026.
Now in its third year, the initiative supports early-stage businesses working across the circular economy, climate innovation and sustainable consumer products – with 2025’s consumer cohort including four stand-out UK brands.
Applications for the consumer product programme closed in early March, but – for those of you who might be interested in applying next time round – here’s what you need to know.
What is the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator?
Amazon’s Europe-wide accelerator is a 10-week programme designed to support start-ups that are putting sustainability at the heart of their product, model or mission, and offers:
- Equity-free funding and grants
- Expert mentorship and workshops
- Tailored business development support
- Access to AWS computing resources
- Guidance from Amazon’s innovation teams
- Connections with Europe’s climate innovation community
The past 2 cohorts have collectively raised more than £40m to date, and reported a 700%+ increase in sales since participating.
Who got in this year?
The 4 UK-based consumer product businesses selected for 2025 are:
- Bantu Chocolate – with transparent production, ethical wages and regenerative agriculture at its core, Bantu’s goal is to tackle the social and environmental costs of chocolate production.
- Composty – their plastic-free cleaning tools (like compostable sponges and cloths) that break down naturally after use help cut microplastic pollution at home.
- Grace & Green – this B Corp period care brand offers certified organic, reusable and toxin-free products that reduce waste while supporting women’s health.
- KWERKY – whose powdered oat and pea milk alternative has a radically lower carbon footprint than dairy or liquid plant milks, and no unnecessary water weight during transit.
They join 4 more forward-thinking brands from across Europe, including skincare, cosmetics and sustainable pet foods – one created from insect-based proteins.
The Intangible Benefits
Beyond the obvious – the grant funding, resources and expert input – the Accelerator is a great move for green brands because it also gives:
- A stamp of credibility that can open doors.
- Valuable exposure to Amazon’s internal teams.
- And access to a powerful community of like-minded founders.
So, if you’re a sustainability-led brand looking to scale, getting onto a future cohort could be a game-changer – but you’ll need a well-articulated mission, a product that genuinely moves the needle, and a plan for real climate impact.
Thinking of applying next year? Now’s the time to start refining your proposition – and your existing Amazon presence too.
